Vintage Years
When reflecting on their past lives, older people will usually mentally travel from events to events, time periods to time periods, moving from one to the other.
Eventually, they settle on certain time periods that give them tremendous pleasure and a deep satisfaction of having been there and done that.
As they recount it, their eyes become softer and sparkle, their voice becomes gentler, and their bodies reflect the mental pleasure that remembering this experience is giving them.
When they come back from this reverie they usually say something like,
“Those were the best years of my life. They were great. That was a wonderful time in my life.”
Then their eyes, voice and body are completely back again and they continue living their lives as usual.
How many of these times do people have that so deeply emotionally affects them?
Some would say they are lucky and have plenty of these times.
But, if they really examined these times they would find there was one particular time period that gives them the most emotional and mental satisfaction.
One where they can say to themselves,
“Yes that was one time I am grateful I had and is so much a part of my remembered life. No matter what has happened, what I have done and achieved, these were my important years. These were the ones I am so glad I had and enjoyed so much— these are the greatest years of my life.”
That is the one, and you can say with complete confidence:
THESE ARE MY VINTAGE YEARS.
